A Message from the Chief ( as seen on stocktonfireco.com )
Hello and welcome to the Stockton Fire Company website. It is currently under construction so continue to follow us as it grows.
Since 1908, The Stockton Fire Company (SFC) has proudly served the Borough of Stockton, Delaware Township, and Kingwood Township. SFC provides fire suppression and rescue services including: vehicle extrication, water rescue and swift water rescue. SFC also provides mutual aid assistance to our neighboring communities.
Our current apparatus consist of an Engine, a Pumper Tender with 3000 gallons of water, a Mini Rescue/Pumper that carries our jaws of life and other rescue tools, and also a utility truck that tows our boat, and our swift water inflatable.
As of August, 2015, we are on pace to answer over 190 calls for the year. SFC has a monthly business meeting on the first Thursday of the month and a drill on each of the remaining Thursdays. Drills include: fire and rescue services, and a drill with our partner, The Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Co.
SFC is always looking for new members. There are many ways that you can be a part of our organization. Active members serve in firefighting and water rescues. Associate members support our much needed fundraising efforts and various community events. If you are interested, stop by our firehouse on Mill Street on a Thursday evening, or contact us by phone, 609- 397-2144 or email, email@example.com.
SO WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A MEMBER?
Here’s my story! I have been a firefighter in Stockton for more than 26 years, married for 24 years, and have 6 active children. My fulltime job often requires 50 plus hours weekly, yet I still find time to drill, take courses to continue my fire/rescue education, and answer calls when the alarm goes off. It is also a great family activity, my wife and daughter are both members, my 2 oldest sons help out when they are home from college, and my father-in-law is our oldest active member.
Why? Giving is a human core value. The people in our community are my neighbors, my friends, and my family. My view is, how could I, in good conscious, sit by and do nothing when they need help in an emergency? I grew up here, do not know everyone, but it’s our human responsibility to care for one another. Volunteering is a great American tradition. Unfortunately, it has dwindled over the last decade, especially because of today’s fast-paced demanding world. When someone you have helped comes and shakes your hand and thanks you…. THAT IS MY REWARD!
Do What You Can. Give what time you can. Every little bit helps. If you live or work in Stockton Borough, the southern end of Delaware or Kingwood Townships, or in a nearby community, please think about volunteering in any way you can. Consider making it a family activity, as many SFC families have done.
SFC is a nonprofit organization. We are a group of hard working volunteers including: butchers, day traders, retirees, business owners, and many other fields of work. We all have a story and we welcome your service. No matter what you do, there’s always time to help out in some way. I know it’s in you.
